About Saint Mary Academy


Faculty and Staff:


Saint Mary Academy has 28 full time teachers. There is a school leadership team that consists of the principal, assistant principal, curriculum director, guidance counselor and learning coordinator. There are 16 full time instructional assistants who support classroom teachers and focus on assisting students to be successful. The teaching staff is also supported by a Technology Coach, Director of Technology and academic tutor. Each teacher is assigned extra-curricular activities in an effort to provide more opportunities for our students.

    Bio
    Mr. Timmerberg joins the Monarchs from Trinity High School, most recently as their Director of Students. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Master's of the Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University. Immediately following the completion of his degrees, he spent the next five years working in JCPS. During this time, he felt called to the mission of Catholic education at Trinity. While at Trinity, he completed a Master’s of Science in Education, specializing in Educational Leadership at Indiana University Southeast. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Leadership from Spalding University.

    Mr. Timmerberg also serves in the Army National Guard as a Commissioned Officer. Leadership is a core principle throughout his life and can be seen through his dedication to the people he serves. Further evidenced through his athletic career as a three-year captain for the Division 1 lacrosse team at Bellarmine University, professionally with the Ohio Machine, and as a State Champion coach. His most treasured accomplishment is marrying his wife, Danielle, who has also dedicated her career to education.

    Julie has served as a member of the Saint Mary Academy family since 2017. Julie taught 4th and 5th grade at St. Athanasius for a total of six years prior to joining the SMA family. At SMA, she served four years as Assistant Principal, one year as interim principal, and this year as Assistant Principal with an additional communications focus.

    Julie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, Masters Degree in Education with a Literacy Endorsement from Bellarmine University, and Educational Specialist Degree in School Leadership and Administration from Bellarmine University.

    Julie enjoys reading, staying active, UL sports, creating art, and most of all, spending time with her husband, Tyler, and their three sons, Theodore, Marty, and Ben. Julie is originally from Michigan where much of her family resides, but she grew up in Louisville where she attended St. Albert the Great School and Assumption High School.

    Fainche Craig graduated from Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1999 and taught in Catholic Elementary schools there, until her move to Louisville in April 2016. She joined Saint Mary Academy in 2019 and taught Kindergarten and 5th Grade, before being appointed to the role of Assistant Principal in January 2022. She considers it a privilege to be a part of the SMA family and is committed to working to support the students, staff and parents in this wonderful community.

    Fainche has 2 daughters. Her eldest daughter, Dervla, is studying at the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland and her youngest, Blanaid, is a Junior in High School. Mrs. Craig is an avid reader and also enjoys painting and trying new recipes!

    Kristi Kelly has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2009 and a Counselor in the Archdiocese since 1998. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Expressive Arts from the University of Louisville. Helping students be happy, healthy, and kind is her passion. Mrs. Kelly offers guidance to any student, class, family, or staff member in need. Mrs. Kelly is also the coordinator of the House, Speak Up Be Safe, Conscious Discipline, and PeaceBuilders programs at SMA.

    Mrs. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, taking pictures, creating art, enjoying nature, sitting by the lake, going on adventures, and laughing with friends.

    Fun Fact: Mrs. Kelly took ballet for 25 years and still loves to dance!

    Mrs. Graves is excited to start her fourth year at Saint Mary Academy! She earned a BS in Mathematics at Bellarmine University, where she also competed as a Cross Country and Track & Field athlete. Mrs. Graves earned her MAT from the University of Indianapolis and has spent nine years in education, with roles as a mathematics teacher, coach, and curriculum coordinator.

    Mrs. Graves loves staying active and being outdoors. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, camping, and gardening. She enjoys sharing these adventures with her husband and their one-year-old daughter. A bucket list item for Mrs. Graves is to visit all 50 states; she has visited 47 so far and still needs to visit North Dakota, New Mexico, and Arizona.

    Mrs. Bullard has lived in Crestwood with her husband for 21 years. She has three boys; the youngest just turned 21. She also has a 6 mo. old grandaughter! In addition to a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University, Mrs. Bullard has earned a B.S. in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky and a M.A. in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Before joining the SMA family, Mrs. Bullard taught at Clear Creek Elementary in Shelby County.

    In addition to spending time with her family, Mrs. Bullard enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, and watching sports with her husband. She loves traveling to places that give her opportunities to spend time outdoors and go hiking. Fun fact: She prefers mountains over beaches (unless it’s a beach in Hawaii!)

    Laura earned her BS from Iowa State University and MS Western Governors State in Special Education.

    Laura has 24 years of teaching experience, 16 of those years in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

    Laura’s hobbies include reading, exercise, sports, and spending time with my family.

    Mr. Lass is thrilled to be entering his first year at SMA and bringing his technical talents and know-how to the school and the parish. He has been married to his wife for 2 years and has a very spoiled Australian shepard-mix dog named Frank.

    Born and raised in Birmingham, AL (Go Blazers). He is an avid watcher of college basketball and football (Go Cards), pro football (Go Packers), and soccer (Go Spurs). He is currently in the process of collecting his Bachelor's degree.

    Fun fact: Mr. Lass' personal deadlift record is 375lbs. Coincidentally, he is very allergic to moving furniture. Doctors remain baffled to this day.

    Susan Naber is the Admissions Coordinator for Saint Mary Academy.

    She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and worked for several years in the field of Healthcare Sales.

    She is married and has 3 children; one of whom is currently a student at SMA!
    Susan enjoys spending time with her family at the lake, playing pickleball, and Alabama Football!

    The faculty, staff and students at SMA are why she enjoys her job!

    Mrs. McConnell started at Immaculate Conception and moved when the school merged with Mother of Good Council to form Saint Mary Academy. Mrs. McConnell graduated from Mercy Academy and the University of Louisville.

    Mrs. McConnell is married and has three children and two beautiful granddaughters.

    In her spare time, she enjoys working out, being outdoors, swimming, traveling, and spending time with her family.

    Mrs. Tegge was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Assumption High School in 1989 and graduated from the University of Louisville in 1993 with an accounting degree. Mrs. Tegge has been married to her husband, Daron for 21 years. They have 3 children. Austin and Cameron attend Saint Xavier High School. Madison is a 2nd grader at SMA. She loves to watch her kids play sports, hanging out with family and friends and traveling.

    Rob has his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Finance and a Minor in Economics from the University of Louisville.

    Rob had a twenty year banking career where he served as the Director of Business Development and Senior VP at a local bank. Prior to coming to Saint Mary Academy, he renovated homes for resale for the past 15 years.

    Rob enjoys working on home projects, outdoor activities and working out.

    Angela Perry has been Cafeteria Manager for the Archdiocese of Louisville since 1991, currently she is managing at Saint Mary Academy, a school that in her opinion; possesses the Archdiocese of Louisville’s greatest student body and staff.

    Angela attended Central High School in Louisville Kentucky. She is a member of the National School Nutrition Association; she attends yearly conferences with SNA to grow as a professional and to improve her school lunch program. Angela has been a member of the Kentucky School Nutrition Association since 1998.

    Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and family; they have one daughter and one son and two grandchildren. Angela loves to cook for her family and church functions, she loves reading, music, and walking, she loves to take weekend road trips with her husband.

    Taylor Ryan graduated from Saint Mary Academy in 2009 and has been working there for 8 years. She returned after graduating from Mercy Academy in 2013.

    She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University Southeast with a concentration in Drawing, along with minors in Communications and Digital Art. She started off her SMA career working in the After School Care program, but has since moved to be a preschool assistant in the 4’s.

    Taylor grew up in Louisville but likes to travel and visit new places. She loves musical theatre and enjoys drawing, painting, reading and playing games in her spare time.

    Bio
    Trish is starting her 16th year of teaching Kindergarten at SMA. She has a business degree from Transylvania University and a Masters Degree from Bellarmine in Education. Initially, she started her career in advertising and worked for Power Creative for 12 years before switching over to teaching. She truly believes that she was called into the teaching profession. She is amazed at her kindergarteners’ love for learning. It is incredible to see the amount of progress students make over the year, especially in reading.

    When Trish is not at work, she loves being with her family which consists of her husband Larry, and her two sons Matthew and Jacob. She also has a red heeler named Bentley and a blue heeler mix named Oreo. For fun, she enjoys reading, going to the movies, late at night, and exercising. Trish is also a big UK fan and has season football tickets.

    Eva Wieck has been at Saint Mary Academy since Fall of 2012 as an Instructional Assistant in 3rd grade. Eva was born in Gothenburg, Sweden 🇸🇪, and has lived in Kentucky since 1999. She taught K-5th grade in Sweden for 3.5 years, and has a teaching degree from the University of Gothenburg. Eva is currently enrolled in the Master program at IUsouthest.

    Eva loves to travel with her family, and at home you can find her snuggled up with a good book.

    Ashley is very excited to start her first year at Saint Mary Academy. She is going to be Mrs. Wieck’s instructional aide. Ashley is originally from the NorthShore of Boston, Massachusetts. Her passion to work with kids started at sixteen years old when she was a teacher aide at a deaf school. In the past five years, she was a Pre-K teacher and absolutely loved it.
    Ashley got her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. She went to Walden University for her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health but decided to switch her major to School Counseling and will be attending Campbellsville University this fall.
    In her spare time, Ashley loves to spend time with her husband, daughter, and all 7 of their pets. She also loves to read, watch movies, and be outdoors.

    Tara Brentzel has been teaching 1st grade at Saint Mary Academy since 2009. She grew up in Louisville and attended Mother of Good Counsel and Assumption High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Tara has been teaching in the Archdiocese since 2003. She loves helping children grow in both knowledge and spirit at SMA.
    Tara and her husband have two children. They are members of Saint Bernadette Church. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her kids play sports, reading, shopping, and exercising.

    Fun Fact: Tara lived in Anchorage, Alaska for several years as a child.

    Ashley has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2015. She was born and grew up here in Louisville, Kentucky.

    Ashley has her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Bellarmine University and a BA in Liberal Studies from University of Louisville.

    Prior to teaching, she coached competitive gymnastics for 12 years. Ashley and her husband have three children. She loves traveling, water-skiing, cheering on the Wildcats, and spending time with family.

    Alice previously taught 8th grade at Bullitt Lick Middle School and served as a lecturer at the University of Louisville and JCTC in Reading and Study Skills.

    Alice’s hobbies include running, crosswords/anagrams, reading, gardening, and upcycling.

    This is Mrs. Schumann’s second year at Saint Mary Academy. This will be her ninth year teaching. She grew up in New Albany, IN but has lived in Louisville for the past 8 years. Mrs. Schumann has her undergraduate degree from Ball State University, and she has her teaching degree and Master’s from Indiana University Southeast.

    Mrs. Schumann enjoys spending time with her family at home, at her parent’s place on Rough River, and taking vacations to new places. She has 3 young children and 1 dog. Mrs. Schumann and her husband are huge UofL fans and love any type of sporting event where they can cheer on their team with friends and family.

    Fun Fact: Mrs. Schumann was a massage therapist for 8 years before starting her career in teaching.

    This is Mrs. Rebok’s first year teaching at Saint Mary Academy. She has previously taught Preschool at La Petite Academy for 16 years where she was also Assistant Director. She has her BA degree from Morehead State University in Elementary Education. Mrs. Rebok grew up in Georgetown, KY but has lived in Louisville for the past 13 years.

    Mrs. Rebok enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids. She loves the U of L Cardinals and going to the sporting events that her children are involved in. In her spare time she loves to read and play board games with her family.

    Kevin graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing in 1989. Kevin spent 40 years in the grocery business, starting at age 16 in Somerset Kentucky where he was born. Since graduating from college, Kevin has worked as a Sales Rep for Bob Evans Farms, Kraft Foods and most recently for General Mills where he took early retirement in 2019. Kevin also worked as an assistant manager for Kroger in the early 90’s for over four years.

    Kevin has been working in the school systems in positions as a kindergarten aid and a special ed aid since retirement. This is his first year at Saint Mary Academy and he is very happy to be here.

    Ms. Deye grew up in Louisville and attended St. Albert the Great and Sacred Heart Academy. She went to the University of Kentucky and graduated with a BA in Exceptional Children Learning and Behavior Disorders. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership from the University of Cumberlands.

    Ms. Deye enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dog, Zoey. She is a huge Kentucky fan and attends many of their football games in the fall. Ms. Deye enjoys trips to the lake with her family and being outside with her dog. She also coaches a high school girls lacrosse team.

    Kelli Eckstein has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2013. She grew up in Jasper, Indiana. Kelli earned her BS in Elementary Education at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Kelli also holds a MA in Education with an emphasis in Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands. Kelli teaches third grade for Saint Mary Academy.

    Kelli enjoys spending time with her son, Leo, husband and extended family. She also enjoys hiking and camping, traveling, reading, watching sports and playing games.

    Fun Fact: Kelli’s husband is also a teacher! She has also traveled to 48 of the 50 states!

    Lisa Graft has been a part of SMA since 2019. She graduated from the University of Louisville with her BA in Elementary Education and went on to get her Masters of Arts In Elementary Education with an endorsement as a reading specialist. She was a teacher at JCPS for 30 years, retired and came back to work as an assistant at SMA.

    Lisa enjoys spending time with her daughter, Lauren, her family and friends. She also loves her kitty who loves to lay on the couch. She loves going on walks, watching Criminal Minds, and riding her bike.

    Fun Fact: Lisa has been to 7 different countries.

    Caitlin grew up in Louisville and graduated from Eastern High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from Bellarmine University. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of the Cumberlands. Prior to SMA, Caitlin was an Instructional Assistant at Lowe Elementary School.

    In her free time, Caitlin enjoys spending time with her family, friends, her dog, Leo, and her hedgehog, Violet. She loves to read, write, and travel. Her current travel goal is to visit all 50 states before she turns 30.

    Fun Fact: Caitlin has a poem published in a book entitled “Kentucky’s Best Emerging Poets 2019: An Anthology.”

    Hannah received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University Southeast.

    She worked as a third and fourth grade teacher assistant for six and a half years, as an aftercare assistant for eight years, an early preschool assistant for a semester and subbed wherever she was needed at Our Lady in New Albany.

    Hannah’s passions include volleyball, making jewelry and rosaries, playing guitar, drawing, and having fun with her cousins at family gatherings.

    Asha has been a part of the Saint Mary Academy family since 2020. She was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. She attended St. Leonard and Sacred Heart Academy. Then, the University of Louisville where she received a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Masters in Elementary Education.

    Asha enjoys spending time with her family, playing board games, doing crafts and playing trivia.

    Hannah grew up in the Louisville Area and attended John Paul II Academy and Brown School. She got her BA in Elementary Education and Learning and Behavior Disorders from Bellarmine University. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Literacy Education from WKU. In her free time, she enjoys running and spending time with family and friends.

    Mrs. Koestel is excited to return to teaching at SMA for a second year. She grew up in Louisville, attending St. Matthias Elementary School and Angela Merici High School. She has lived in Louisville most of her life, but has also lived briefly in Philadelphia, Scotland and Turkey. She earned a B.A. in English and Secondary Education at the University of Louisville, an M.S. in Education from IUS, and Rank I certification in administration from Spalding University. She has 20+ years of teaching experience with the Archdiocese of Louisville. Mrs. Koestel has been married to Glenn for 37 years. She has two adult children, Eric and Zoe, and two Newfoundland dogs, Zeus and Baloo. She enjoys spending time with her family, her dogs, traveling, reading, and going on short hikes.

    Susan has earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Bellarmine University. She is pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands.

    This will be Susan’s second year as a 5th Grade Instructional Assistant at SMA. Her three children all graduated from SMA.

    Susan’s hobbies include traveling, reading, crocheting and spending time with family, friends and her two dogs.

Middle School


  • Middle School Religion Teacher

    Bio
    Education: Mrs. Wiech is a Saint Mary Academy alum! After graduating SMA in 2011, Mrs. Wiech graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and finished her Bachelors in Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education at the University of Louisville. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Theology through Franciscan University of Steubenville.

    Experience: This is her third year teaching Religion at Saint Mary Academy. This is also Mrs. Wiech’s 6th year working as one of the High School Youth Ministry Coordinators at Saint Bernadette. She enjoys encouraging our teens to pursue an intimate relationship with Jesus and become fully alive in The Catholic Faith!

    Hobbies/passions/interests: Mrs. Wiech delights in drinking her Dunkin’ Donuts’ coffees, running to a good praise and worship playlist, training her dog Kolbe, reading books by The Saints, and playing or coaching volleyball with her husband. Fun fact, Mrs. Wiech can play 2 instruments and loves to sing!
  • Middle School English Language Arts

    Bio
    Jordan is a second-year teacher coming to us from the West End, after serving at a private school in the Portland neighborhood! Mr. Kerner graduated from Indiana University in 2018 and is currently pursuing his Masters.

    Jordan has also coached basketball for over 10 years including experiences like: starting a (and serving as the organizations COO) travel/club basketball organization in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and coaching basketball 3 years at the collegiate level. “People are my passion; I genuinely want to love students where they are and have intentional discipleship with them as Jesus would.” He enjoys a good coffee, exercising, hanging out with friends and family, playing with his Goldendoodle “Bambi”, and playing basketball.

    Fun Fact: Mr. Kerner has lived in 8 different states, has coached for 3 college basketball programs, and loves to write!
  • Middle School English Language Arts

    Dylan graduated from Saint Xavier High School and received his BA in English from the University of Louisville.

    For the past three years, Dylan has taught English and writing to sixth through twelfth grade at Valiant Christian Academy in Louisville.

    Dylan is an avid sports junkie and huge University of Kentucky fan. He loves reading, running, playing basketball, spending time with his girlfriend and dog, and listening to podcasts. He is also a big film buff due in part to the fact that he was a movie theater manager prior to getting into teaching.

    Bio
    Sophie Broyles is excited to join the SMA community this 2022-2023 school year! After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 2016, Sophie earned her BA with a history major and Spanish minor from Centre College in 2020. She is currently pursuing a MAT degree from Bellarmine University. After volunteering in education for years, Sophie taught preschool and held various long-term substitute positions in primary and high school classrooms. She can't wait to work with middle school students and focus on her favorite social studies content here at SMA.

    When she is not in the classroom or studying for her own classes, Sophie enjoys crocheting, hiking, going to concerts, and finding new places to explore in Louisville. She also loves spending time with her family, especially her younger siblings, Finnegan and Koko.

    Fun Fact: Sophie loves to work seasonally in Jackson, WY during the summer months - ask her for travel tips out west!

    Elizabeth Lowden joined the Middle School team at Saint Mary Academy in the 2022/2023 school year. She grew up in Shelby County, where she graduated from Shelby County High School.

    Elizabeth is in her final year at Indiana University Southeast, where she is completing coursework in middle grades science and social studies. In her free time she enjoys playing with her two labs, Evie and Pepper, shopping at Hobby Lobby, reading, and pursuing new crafty hobbies like woodworking, sewing, crocheting and glass etching.

    Brooklyn is a new teacher at Saint Mary Academy. This is her third-year teaching, but first year teaching middle school math to our sixth-grade students. She grew up in Meade County, Kentucky and graduated from Meade County High School. Brooklyn earned two associate degrees from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University. She plans to obtain a Masters Degree soon. She hopes to include her interest and love for technology in the classroom along with skills she has learned in the areas of special education, equity, and differentiation.

    Outside of school, Brooklyn is heavily involved in Scouts. She is the committee chair for Pack 366 and a troop leader for Troop 366. Her love for Scouts allows Brooklyn to enjoy camping and kayaking along with other fun adventures. Brooklyn’s home life includes her husband, Francis, and their two corgis, Biscuit and Frankie.

    Fun Fact: After suffering a right arm injury in the 3rd grade, Brooklyn learned to write with her left hand until her right arm healed a couple months later.

    Education: I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spalding University in Interdisciplinary Social Science in 2009, and completed my Master of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University in 2013.

    Experience: This will be my tenth year as an educator, and I have served in a variety of classroom settings at SMA. These include experience teaching 4th grade for several years, and teaching 5th grade math and science before combining my vocation of teaching with my passion for art to serve as SMA’s visual art teacher beginning in 2018.

    Hobbies/passions/interests: I enjoy spending time with my husband and three sons, spending time outdoors, and creating art, especially photography and painting.

    Bio
    Merly started teaching Spanish at Saint Mary Academy in 2019. She was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to the United States in 2002. She studied Informatics Systems in the San Ignacio de Loyola Institute in Lima, and she is certified as a Specialist User in Computers and Informatics. Merly is pursuing her Teacher Certification in ELE Internacional School in Spain.
    Mrs. Barnes enjoys spending time with her husband Robert and her two children, Lucas 14, and Noelia 15. She also has two furry family members, cat and dog, and enjoys traveling, listening to music, karaoke, and playing tennis.
    Fun fact: While on vacation in New Your City, Merly adopted a puppy (unplanned) while window shopping in Chelsea/Meatpacking district. Her name is Chelsea.
    Interesting fact: Merely has visited 31 states.

    Alison has earned her Master's in Elementary Education.

    Alison previously taught elementary education for seven years with JCPS. In 2014, she started volunteering at SMA in various areas. She assisted teachers with DRA testing, organized the teacher's leveled library, worked with small groups of students in math and reading and was on the PTO. In 2017, she became the library media specialist and helped set up the new makerspace/media center area.

    Alison loves spending time with her friends and family. She loves to travel and hopes to eventually see all 50 states. Alison has 3 children - Dalton, Gracie & Maggie and she enjoys watching them play their favorite sport - volleyball. Alison and her husband, David, have been married for 18 years and they also have 2 dogs, Patches and Pixie. Alison also enjoys reading, gardening, the beach and organizing. She is looking forward to another great year at SMA.

    Kelsey has earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky and her Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Teacher Leadership from Bellarmine University.

    This is Kelsey’s seventh year as a teacher and her sixth year teaching at Saint Mary Academy. She has experience teaching 5th and 2nd grades. Currently, she is the PreK-8th grade technology teacher at SMA. She teaches students how to use digital tools effectively and responsibly.

    Kelsey loves spending time with her sweet Bernedoodles, Beau and Bella. She also enjoys traveling to new places with her husband, Chris. Their latest adventure took them throughout Italy starting in Venice and ending in the Amalfi Coast. She spent her summer days at Barren River Lake with family and friends. Lastly, she is passionate about exploring new digital tools she can incorporate in her classes!

    Susan graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL. She has experience in the fitness industry for the past decade and is entering her fourth-year teaching. She loves finding fun ways to keep kids moving and encouraging them to live healthy lifestyles.

    Elizabeth has a BA from Barat College from Lake Forest, IL, Master Catechist Certification from the Archdiocese of Louisville and Pastoral Care Certificate from Spalding University. Elizabeth’s career started at E.F.S.(a student loan purchaser & servicing company )as a Client Liaison. After 5 years, she joined Bank One in Indianapolis, IN, completed their Management Training Program and served as an Assistant Bank Manager at several branch locations in Indianapolis, IN. Elizabeth’s husband's job transferred them to Louisville, KY. She retired and accepted the position of (CHO) Chief Home Officer, aka Family CEO, and reared their 3 children. While her husband joined the Diaconate Program in 2006, she used the time to complete her Master Catechist Certificate through the ArchLou Catechist Program. It has been 10+ years since she joined the Archdiocese of Louisville staff. Elizabeth started as a Substitute Teacher, then as the Director of Lifelong Formation at St. Raphael in Louisville, KY. Her current position is Director of Children's Faith Formation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Elizabeth enjoys musicals/plays offered by our local High Schools, Youth Performances, Derby Dinner or Kentucky Center for the Arts. Another hobby is playing Volleyball! When she was younger, Elizabeth played on a team that played the inmates at the Women's Prison in Oldham County. Our team led Scripture lessons after the game and encouraged inmates. Her interests are watching her family grow and reading the new Nicholas Sparks novels on the beach. Her passion is working alongside her husband, Deacon Todd and sharing her love of God with children & their families.

    Angela Kerr started as Bookkeeper at Saint Mary Academy in 2017, and transitioned to Business Manager in 2020. Angela has a degree in Accountancy from Glasgow Caledonian University and worked as an accountant in Scotland for 15 years before moving to America in 2006. Angela is married with three sons, all of whom attended SMA. In her spare time, Angela likes to read and work in her garden.

    Missy Mattingly joined the St. Bernadette/Saint Mary Academy staff in June 2020 as the Bookkeeper. Before joining our staff, she worked as Business Manager at the high school level for 13 years. She was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from the University of Louisville. GO CARDS! Missy has been married to husband, Kevin, for 31 years. They are parents to Andrew and two dogs, Zoey and Luna. In her spare time, she loves spending time with family and friends attending music concerts, craft fairs, U of L sporting events, game nights, and traveling.

    Sharon received a Masters of Theological Studies from Saint Meinrad School of Theology in 2011 and the degree of Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO in May, 2016. Her passion for the Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture and proclaiming and preaching encouraged her pursuit of these degrees. Sharon’s ministry experiences include Parish Formation and Pastoral Associate responsibilities in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Coordinator of Evangelization 2007-2010, Coordinator of Pro-Life Ministries 2010-2013 and is currently the Pastoral Associate for Intentional Discipleship at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Prospect, KY. Sharon and Charlie are the proud parents of four adult children and six grandchildren.

    Ellen, a founding member of St. Bernadette, joined the parish staff in September of 2021. She holds a BS in Nursing from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and a Masters in Hospital Administration from University of St Francis in Joliet, IL. As a pediatric nurse, she cared for those dealing with chronic illnesses namely: cancer, cystic fibrosis, transplant recipients. Ellen is currently pursuing a Master's in Theology from St. Meinrads. Ellen is married to Jim since 1990 and together they have 4 adult daughters (2 of which graduated from Mother of Good Counsel and the younger 2 graduated from Saint Mary Academy). "Volunteering has always been important to me, and my goal as Neighbor Care Coordinator is to connect the needs of the community with the talents of our parishioners. " During her free time, Ellen enjoys reading, coffee dates with friends and playing with her 3 large dogs!

    Tina was born in Louisville and grew up in Jeffersontown. She started at Transfiguration Of Our Lord Church 26 years ago and moved when they merged with Mother of Good Counsel to form Saint Bernadette Catholic Church. Tina has 3 sons and 2 daughters, seven grandsons and a step-granddaughter. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoys making wreaths & memory boards, watching her grandchildren play sports and being on the beach!

    David holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Psychology and Music from Bellarmine College and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Saint Meinrad School of Theology. He joined the staff of Transfiguration of Our Lord parish in 2002 and Saint Bernadette in 2008. David enjoys spending time with his family, training in Japanese martial arts, and playing electric bass. He has also taught private guitar and electric bass lessons.

    Kelley Magnuson is happy to be the Assistant Director of Music and Worship at St. Bernadette. She is originally from Orlando, FL and received her degrees in Theology and Christian Education with a minor in Sacred Music from Florida Southern College. Having moved all over the world as an Air Force family, she has been involved in music and Christian education in a great number of churches and schools for over 25 years. She's happy to now be in Louisville and enjoys directing the Youth Choir and overseeing weddings at the parish. Kelley loves to travel and experience new cultures and food. With a college freshman and a college senior, she is enjoying the beginnings of having an empty-nest with her husband. She absolutely loves Disney World (the movies, parks and cruises). Fun fact: Her dad helped Walt build the parks in Florida and even has his name on a window on Main Street above the Emporium! In her spare time, you can find her curled up with her cat and a good book, trying out a new recipe, or playing the guitar.

    Nancy Falls has a Master's Degree from the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. Prior to working at Saint Bernadette, she was a crisis counselor for ten years, working on a suicide hotline as well as counseling survivors of sexual and domestic violence. She joined the Saint Bernadette parish staff in 2011 after staying home with her children for several years. Although church work is very different than crisis counseling work, both require a servant's heart. She enjoys spending time with her two teenage children, as well as her 3 cats and 1 dog. She enjoys gardening, reading, and cooking.
