Faculty and Staff:

Saint Mary Academy has 28 full time teachers. There is a school leadership team that consists of the principal, assistant principal, curriculum director, guidance counselor and learning coordinator. There are 16 full time instructional assistants who support classroom teachers and focus on assisting students to be successful. The teaching staff is also supported by a Technology Coach, Director of Technology and academic tutor. Each teacher is assigned extra-curricular activities in an effort to provide more opportunities for our students.

    Bio
    Mrs. Kelly became principal at Saint Mary Academy in July 2016. She strongly believes in the value of a Catholic education and developing the whole child.

    Mrs. Kelly was born and raised in upstate New York and has a variety of experiences teaching math from middle school through junior college. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics/Management from LeMoyne College and a M.A.T. from Binghamton University. Mrs. Kelly earned Rank 1 distinction with an additional M.A. in Educational Leadership from Spalding University. She holds current teaching certificates in New York and Texas and Kentucky certification as a school principal in grades K - 12 and mathematics teacher in grades 6 - 12.

    Prior to coming to Saint Mary Academy, Mrs. Kelly was the assistant principal at St. Patrick Catholic School for three years and served as a classroom teacher and assistant campus minister at Trinity High School for nine years.

    Mrs. Kelly and her husband, Patrick, have three children - Michelle, Chris and Ryan and are members at St. Margaret Mary parish.

    Bio
    Amelia Flynn joined the Saint Mary Academy faculty in 2015 as a middle school English Language Arts teacher. She is currently the 5th-8th grade Learning Coordinator. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and is a graduate of Christian Academy of Louisville. She has a BM in Music Education and English Teaching from Eastern Kentucky University, and an M.Ed. in Special Education with a focus on Learning and Behavior Disorders from the University of Louisville. She has experience working with teens with Down syndrome, autism, and other disabilities through a local non-profit that serves and empowers individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and autism.

    Mrs. Flynn spends much of her free time renovating her house with her husband; she enjoys going camping at the lake, has a passion for traveling to see new things, and loves attending Broadway and other theater or musical productions.

    Fun Fact: Mrs. Flynn is not a big sports fan, but attended every home football game while in high school and college due to being in the marching band, and she plays multiple instruments.

    Kristi Kelly has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2009. She grew up in Louisville attending Sacred Heart Model School and Academy. She received a Bachelors in Arts majoring in Psychology and received a Master of Arts in Expressive Therapy from the University of Louisville. This is her 20th year being a School Counselor in the Archdiocese of Louisville. Helping students be healthy and happy is her passion. Mrs. Kelly offers guidance to any student, class, family or staff member in need. She teaches an elective class in Expressive Arts to the 7th and 8th grade students. Mrs. Kelly is the coordinator of the House, Speak Up Be Safe and PeaceBuilders programs at SMA.

    Mrs. Kelly enjoys spending time with her family, taking pictures, creating art, going to the lake, enjoying nature, taking adventures and laughing with friends.

    Fun Fact: Mrs. Kelly took ballet for 25 years and still loves to dance!

    Bio
    Carrie McGreevy has taught in the Archdiocese of Louisville since 1996. She joined the faculty of Saint Mary Academy as a 1st grade teacher in 2010. She is currently the Learning Coordinator. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended St. Leonard and Sacred Heart Academy. Carrie earned her BA in Elementary Education at the University of Kentucky. Carrie earned her MA in Teaching at Indiana Wesleyan University.

    Carrie enjoys spending time with her two teenage children and husband, baking, crafting, gardening, playing with her dog, and hiking.

    Fun Fact: Carrie was named Walmart Teacher of the Year serving as a 3rd Grade Teacher in the year 2000!
  • Assistant Principal

    Bio
    Julie Speer has been a part of St. Mary Academy since the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year. She is originally from Michigan where much of her extended family resides, but grew up in Louisville where she attended St. Albert the Great School and Assumption High School. Julie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky in 2010. Julie began her career in education in 2012 as a 5th grade teacher at St. Athanasius School. In 2013, Julie completed her Master’s Degree in Education with a Literacy Endorsement from Bellarmine University. Julie taught 5th grade for three years before transitioning into teaching 4th grade at St. Athanasius, where she continued to teach for another three years. During her sixth year of teaching, she began her Educational Specialist Degree in School Leadership and Administration at Bellarmine University, graduating with this degree and her Rank 1 in 2017.
    Julie enjoys reading, exercise, cooking, UL sports, art and anything that allows her to be creative, spending time with family and friends, and seeking ways to continue to grow professionally in order to provide the best education for the students of St. Mary Academy.

    Fun fact: Julie began working at the age of 15 at a retirement home serving residents in the dining room, she spent seven years in this position.

    Bio
    Ms. Stewart has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2008. She grew up in Taylorsville, Kentucky and attended Spencer County High School. Ms. Stewart earned her BS in Exercise Science and Sports Medicine at Campbellsville University. Ms. Stewart earned her MS in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and her MA in Teaching with an emphasis in Health and Physical Education. Ms. Stewart started as the Physical Education Teacher in 2008 and became the Director of Technology in 2013 at Saint Mary Academy.

    Ms. Stewart enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, playing and watching sports (GO CATS!), anything outdoors, traveling, cooking, playing with her dog, working out and working in her garden.

    Fun Fact: Ms. Stewart played college softball at Campbellsville University and has backpacked part of the Appalachian Trail.

    Bio
    Ms. Thomas is excited to join Saint Mary Academy this school year! She grew up in Bedford, Kentucky and attended Trimble County High School. Ms. Thomas earned her BS in Mathematics at Bellarmine University where she also competed as a Cross Country and Track & Field athlete. Ms. Thomas earned her MAT from the University of Indianapolis and has spent six years as a mathematics teacher and coach. Her passions as an educator include STEM education, technology integration, and student advocacy.

    Ms. Thomas loves running and continues to compete with her college teammates in relay races. She enjoys traveling and hiking with her family, friends, and fiance. Ms. Thomas also enjoys writing letters, trying new recipes, and reading.

    Fun Fact: A bucket list item for Ms. Thomas is to visit all 50 states. She has visited 46 so far and still needs to visit Alaska, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Arizona.

    Elizabeth Auffrey joined the St Bernadette staff in October 2016 as the Director of Children’s Faith Formation. Before joining our staff she worked as the Director of Faith Formation at St. Raphael the Archangel parish, Louisville, KY for 5 years.

    Elizabeth was born in Fort Wayne, IN, attended Barat College in Lake Forest, IL and moved to Carmel, IN as a Student Loan Client Liaison. She has been married for 28 years to Deacon Todd Auffrey who joined the staff in August 2016. They have 3 children and a Golden Doodle.

    She likes pina colada, getting caught in the rain. She’s not much into champagne.

    Mrs. Bestenlehner originally from Minnesota and moved to Louisville in 2012 with her husband, John and son, Daniel. They have a very spirited border collie named Abby. Mrs. Bestenlehner loves all things Minnesota, especially the Vikings. Even the cold doesn't bother her that much. She enjoys playing volleyball, golf and enjoys to cook. When she is not cooking chicken nuggets for the students, she is trying new recipes at home.

    A few fun facts about Mrs. Bestenlehner... she is a certified scuba diver and last summer she went skydiving.

    Bio
    Kelly Collard began as Saint Mary Academy’s Business Manager in January 2017. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and lived Nebraska and Wisconsin before coming to Louisville. She attended Sacred Heart Academy. Kelly earned a double major in Accounting and Business Management at Bellarmine University. She started working for the Archdiocese of Louisville in 1999 and has been a Business Manager for St. Margaret Mary, St. Stephen Martyr and Holy Family Parishes.

    Kelly enjoys spending time doing Jazzercise, walking and biking in the parklands and supporting the Bellarmine Knights Basketball team. She also serves as a mentor to college seniors at Bellarmine. Kelly is married and has two children, Haley and Travis. Both children went through the Catholic grade school and high school system here in Louisville.

    Angela Kerr started as Bookkeeper at Saint Mary Academy in July 2017. Angela is from Scotland originally, and moved to Louisville with her family in 2006. She is married with 3 boys, all of whom have attended SMA.

    Angela has a degree in Accountancy from Glasgow Caledonian University and worked as an accountant in Scotland for 15 years before moving to America. In her spare time Angela likes to read and work in her garden.

    Mrs. McConnell started at Immaculate Conception and moved when the school merged together with Mother of Good Council to form Saint Mary Academy. She has been with the school for 20 years. Mrs. McConnell is a graduate of Mercy Academy and the University of Louisville where she completed her training as an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant at the School of Dentistry.

    Mrs. McConnell is married to her husband Bob and they have three children Tiffany, son in law Joey, Chris, Matt and a beautiful granddaughter! In her spare time, she enjoys working out, being outdoors, swimming, walking her dog and spending time with her family.

    Fun Fact: Although it’s been a few years now, she used to participate in The Louisville Triple Crown of Running for several years. She had such fun and what a great accomplishment crossing the finish line at the Mini Marathon!

    Mrs. Susan Naber is the Admissions Coordinator at Saint Mary Academy.
    She is married to Mark and they have 3 children; 2 sons and a daughter, who is currently a student at SMA!
    Susan enjoys spending time outdoors; whether doing yard work, walking, or at the lake. She loves spending time with her family and especially loves when the whole family is together!
    She is a University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) football fan and looks forward to football season every year.
    The faculty, staff and children at SMA are why she enjoys her job!

    Angela Perry has been Cafeteria Manager for the Archdiocese of Louisville since 1991, currently she is managing at Saint Mary Academy, a school that in her opinion; possesses the Archdiocese of Louisville’s greatest student body and staff.

    Angela attended Central High School in Louisville Kentucky. She is a member of the National School Nutrition Association; she attends yearly conferences with SNA to grow as a professional and to improve her school lunch program. Angela has been a member of the Kentucky School Nutrition Association since 1998.

    Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and family; they have one daughter and one son and two grandchildren. Angela loves to cook for her family and church functions, she loves reading, music, and walking, she loves to take weekend road trips with her husband.

    Bio
    Sharon received a Masters of Theological Studies from Saint Meinrad School of Theology in 2011 and the degree of Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology at St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO in May, 2016. Her passion for the Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture and proclaiming and preaching encouraged her pursuit of these degrees.

    Sharon’s ministry experiences include Parish Formation and Pastoral Associate responsibilities in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Coordinator of Evangelization 2007-2010, Coordinator of Pro-Life Ministries 2010-2013 and is currently the Pastoral Associate for Intentional Discipleship at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Prospect, KY.

    Mrs. Skarbo was born in Cincinnati, Ohio then moved to Scituate, Massachusetts for one year where she attended first grade. In 1974 her family moved to Louisville, Kentucky. Mrs. Skarbo has been married to her husband Kurt for 14 years. They have two children - Hannah who is a 4th grader, and Sarah a 2nd grader at SMA. Outside of working in the school cafeteria she enjoys spending time with family & friends, their cat Callie and traveling. Mrs. Skarbo hopes to one day travel to Hawaii!

    Cherie Smart started in 2017 at Saint Mary Academy working as an administrative assistant in the front office. Born and raised in Louisville, she attended Angela Merici and graduated from Holy Cross High School. Cherie earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Louisville and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky University. She has 11 years of experience teaching in various Catholic schools.

    Cherie and her husband, Greg, have 2 children, Lindsay and Nick, who are current nursing students at the University of Louisville. Cherie enjoys spending time at her home on Nolin Lake, boating, wake boarding/surfing, and walking her two doodles. She also is a huge U of L fan and loves cheering on the Cards!

    Mrs. Tegge was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from Assumption High School in 1989 and graduated from the University of Louisville in 1993 with an accounting degree. Mrs. Tegge has been married to her husband, Daron for 21 years. They have 3 children. Austin and Cameron attend Saint Xavier High School. Madison is a 2nd grader at SMA. She loves to watch her kids play sports, hanging out with family and friends and traveling.

    Bio
    Teresa Butler has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2004. She grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended Presentation Academy. Teresa earned her BA in English and History at Eastern Kentucky University. Teresa began as an assistant in the Pre-K program and moved to lead teacher for the 3 year old preschool in 2011. She was also a SMA Archery Coach for 12 years. All three of my children attended SMA and we are members of St. Bernadette.

    Teresa enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, reading, walking and traveling with the University of Kentucky Rugby team (which her son plays for).

    Fun Fact: Teresa walked 2016 miles in 2016 and is working on 2017 in 2017 (that’s about 5 ½ miles per day).

    Joanne Deam has been part of Saint Mary Academy since 2012. She is from Ohio and moved to Louisville in 1994. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Before coming to Saint Mary Academy, she taught third grade, fifth grade and Pre K. Currently she teaches the Preschool 3’s.

    In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, walking and spending time with her three children and family.

    Mary Watkins has a BA from The University of Iowa and has been with SMA’s preschool for 10 years, previously working at Mother of Good Counsel before the school merger.

    Mary and her husband Jeff have two high schoolers, a daughter and a son, who attend Louisville Male. They all live with a crazy Pomeranian-mix dog and a fat cat. Though Mary is not a UK graduate, she happily shifted her allegiance to the Wildcats and Cats’ basketball! Mary likes music, reading, and antiquing.

    Bio
    Trish Feltner has been with Saint Mary Academy since August 2007. She grew up in Louisville, Ky. and went to college at Transylvania University, earning a B. A. in Business Administration with a minor in Art. She also attended Jefferson Community College where she earned a Commercial Art Degree. Trish worked at Power Creative Advertising Agency for 12 years before going back to school to become a teacher. She earned her MAT at Bellarmine University.

    Trish enjoys spending time with her 2 boys, Matthew and Jacob, and her husband Larry. She loves watching her sons play golf and basketball and she is a huge Wildcat fan (GO CATS!) Trish also loves playing with the furry members of her family: Dutch, a chocolate lab, and Oreo, a blue heeler mix puppy. Her other hobbies include swimming, drawing, painting and writing.

    Fun Fact: Trish loves to teach reading and is working on writing children's books.

    This is Mrs. Hilgeford’s first year of teaching at Saint Mary Academy. She taught at another Catholic elementary school for eight years prior to teaching at Saint Mary Academy.
    She was born and raised in Louisville, KY, attended catholic schools since preschool, and truly believes in the gift of receiving a Catholic education. Always being interested in becoming a teacher, she received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Xavier University in May 2011. She received her Master’s in Leadership and Reading Endorsement from Spalding University in May 2017.
    Mrs. Stephanie Hilgeford and her family are active members at St. Raphael the Archangel. She enjoys spending time with her family on their family farm, where they ride horses, garden, and search for fossils.

    Eva Wieck has been at Saint Mary Academy since Fall of 2012 as an Instructional Assistant in 3rd grade. Eva was born in Gothenburg, Sweden 🇸🇪, and has lived in Kentucky since 1999. She taught K-5th grade in Sweden for 3.5 years, and has a teaching degree from the University of Gothenburg. Eva is currently enrolled in the Master program at IUsouthest.

    Eva loves to travel with her family, and at home you can find her snuggled up with a good book.

    Mrs. Bottomley was born and raised here in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the University of Louisville for her undergraduate degree and is currently pursing a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Bellarmine University. Mrs. Bottomley enjoys going to the lake with her family, cheering on her Cards, and spending time with her husband and her puppy.

    Tara Brentzel has been teaching 1st grade at Saint Mary Academy since 2009. She grew up in Louisville and attended Mother of Good Counsel and Assumption High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Tara has been teaching in the Archdiocese since 2003. She loves helping children grow in both knowledge and spirit at SMA.
    Tara and her husband have two children. They are members of Saint Bernadette Church. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, watching her kids play sports, reading, shopping, and exercising.

    Fun Fact: Tara lived in Anchorage, Alaska for several years as a child.

    Mrs. Buckley starts the 2018-19 school year as an instructional assistant after being a stay at home Mom for 20 years. Born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. and a graduate of Cazenovia college, Mrs Buckley moved to Louisville in 2016. She and husband Neil have three children Andrew, Katelyn and Allison whom they are very proud of.
    Fun fact: this move to Louisville is her 10th move since getting married in 1996.

    Mrs. Bullard has lived in Crestwood with her husband for 21 years. She has three boys; the youngest just turned 21. She also has a 6 mo. old grandaughter! In addition to a Master of Arts in Teaching from Bellarmine University, Mrs. Bullard has earned a B.S. in Family Studies from the University of Kentucky and a M.A. in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Before joining the SMA family, Mrs. Bullard taught at Clear Creek Elementary in Shelby County.

    In addition to spending time with her family, Mrs. Bullard enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, and watching sports with her husband. She loves traveling to places that give her opportunities to spend time outdoors and go hiking. Fun fact: She prefers mountains over beaches (unless it’s a beach in Hawaii!)

    Ms. Crow has been working at Saint Mary Academy for two years. Ms. Crow grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and is a graduate of Saint Margaret Mary and Sacred Heart Academy. Ms. Crow earned her BS in Elementary Education from the University of Louisville.

    Ms. Crow enjoys spending time with her family and her two puppies. Ms. Crow is a big University of Louisville fan and loves attending any UL game. She also loves spending time outside or reading a good book.

    Fun Fact: Ms. Crow is the oldest of 5 children.

    Debbie Cunningham joined the 2nd grade team at Saint Mary Academy in 2017. She earned her MAT from Bellarmine University and has been teaching since 2010. She has served in the education community for over 18 years in a variety of activities.

    Debbie grew up in Morris County, NJ and graduated from Ohio University. She served in the U.S. Air Force as an operations officer. Debbie enjoys spending time with her family and keeping up with her children. She has a daughter who is a biomedical graduate student, a son serving as a 2LT in the U.S. Army, and daughter in her junior year of high school.

    Fun Fact: Coach of the St. Patrick 8th grade city championship field hockey team.

    Ms. Deye grew up in Louisville and attended St. Albert the Great and Sacred Heart Academy. She went to the University of Kentucky and graduated with a BA in Exceptional Children Learning and Behavior Disorders. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership from the University of Cumberlands.

    Ms. Deye enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dog, Zoey. She is a huge Kentucky fan and attends many of their football games in the fall. Ms. Deye enjoys trips to the lake with her family and being outside with her dog. She also coaches a high school girls lacrosse team.

    Kelli Eckstein has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2013. She grew up in Jasper, Indiana. Kelli earned her BS in Elementary Education at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Kelli is currently working toward her MA in Education with an emphasis in Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands. Kelli teaches third grade for Saint Mary Academy.

    Kelli enjoys spending time with her son, Leo, husband and extended family. She also enjoys hiking and camping, traveling, reading, watching sports and playing games.

    Fun Fact: Kelli’s husband is also a teacher! She has also traveled to 48 of the 50 states!

    Bio
    Mrs. Federico is an Instructional Assistant in the 3rd grade. She is a “mom” for 10+ years before her job at Saint Mary Academy. Mrs. Federico’s background is in Social Work and worked in that capacity until she had her son in 2005. Mrs. Federico received a B.A. in Psychology from Louisiana State University and a Master of Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans.

    Penny Hourigan is in her seventh year at Saint Mary Academy's Preschool. She is a native of Louisville and a graduate from Mercy Academy. Penny also received her Bachelors degree from University of Louisville.

    Penny loves spending most of her time with kids, including her two daughters, fourth and sixth graders at SMA. She also enjoys spending time outdoors especially with her dog, cat and bunny. Penny's hobbies include doing all kinds of crafts, especially working with wood.

    One thing that you may not know about Penny is that she spent close to twenty years as a tennis professional, teaching in Louisville and Denver, Colorado. Even though she took a break from playing tennis after her second child came along, she hopes to get back on the court soon.

    Bio
    Ms. Randolph was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Her and her six brothers and sisters moved a lot including Maryland, Connecticut, New York and finally made her home in Louisville, KY.
    She earned her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Louisville and her Bachelor Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University.
    Ms. Randolph is physically active including triathlons and recently completed a YMCA, 6-month, 100-mile swim contest. She enjoys travel and most recently, spent a family vacation to Ireland. For a while, she lived off and on in Rome, Italy.
    Her favorite person in the world, is her daughter, Nora Mattingly, who works for America, NCCC, serving in California, Florida and is completing her tour of duty in Helena, Montana. She is planning to live in Portland, Oregon.
    Fun fact: Ms. Randolph has written a short and long story that travelled the international film festival and has written three children’s books: Cat Can’t Read, Dog Can’t Count and coming out soon, “Mouse Gets Bullied”.

    Ashley Scroggy has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2015. She was born and grew up here in Louisville, Kentucky. She has her Masters degree in Elementary Education from Bellarmine University and a BA in Liberal Studies. Prior to teaching, she coached competitive gymnastics for 12 years and occasionally still subs. Ashley and her husband have one little one and another one on the way. She loves traveling, water-skiing, cheering on the Wildcats, and spending time with family.

    Susan Beck has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since it’s’ conception in 2008. Before that, she taught at Mother of Good Counsel and Saint Jerome. Susan has been teaching since 1976 and has great passion for her profession. Susan earned a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Kentucky. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Louisville.

    Susan enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.

    Fun Fact: Susan has two sets of twins in her family, of which she is one. Her daughter also has twin boys which will turn two in December.

    This is Mr. Bader’s first year at Saint Mary Academy. He was born and raised in New York and has lived in Louisville for the past 6 years. Mr. Bader earned a BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Louisville. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Teaching from Bellarmine University.

    Mr. Bader enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves watching and playing sports and is a huge Louisville fan. Mr Bader also coaches high school basketball and track and field.

    Mrs. Ruley has been working at Saint Mary Academy for four years. As a native of Louisville, KY, she is a graduate of Mother of Good Counsel and Sacred Heart Academy. Mrs. Ruley earned her BS in Education from Western Kentucky University and her M.Ed. with an emphasis in Educational Technology from Indiana University Southeast. Outside of school, Mrs. Ruley enjoys fostering new and spontaneous adventures with her family, creating delicious foods in the kitchen, or retreating to the quiet of nature at the lake.

    Fun Fact: Mrs. Ruley lived and taught in California.
  • Middle School Language Arts

    Bio
    Maggie Story moved to the Louisville area from the state of Wisconsin last August. She is a graduate of Beloit College where she majored in psychology and minored in music. Later, Maggie returned to Beloit where she earned her teaching certification. Maggie taught 8th graders Language Arts and Math for the majority of her 13 years in Wisconsin. She has extensive experience in collaborative team work and team building, curriculum development, and site management.

    Maggie is also a trained mindfulness and stress management educator. She has received extensive training from Mindful Schools and has gone to various retreats and classes in mindfulness. She has taught over 500 students about mindfulness, created and implemented a mindfulness program at McNeel Intermediate School, and for her last two years in Beloit, led professional development for the school district staff.

    Maggie has two children – Alex and Sophie, two dogs – Buster and Lola, and one very old kitty cat-Gumdrop. Maggie loves the warmer weather in KY and all the great activities Louisville has to offer, especially dancing. She is an avid Latin dancer and knows salsa, bachata, merengue, and cumbia. Maggie is very excited to start at St. Mary Academy and is looking forward to getting to know all her students and their parents and guardians.

    Bio
    Jon Wiseman has been a part of Saint Mary Academy since 2014. He grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and attended Henry Clay High School. Jon earned his Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown College and has complete post-baccalaureate work in Science Education from The University of Louisville. Jon also has earned his Masters of Art in Education from Georgetown College and completed his student teaching in Oldham County at SOMS. He work for several years in Oldham County as a substitute teacher before coming to teach at Saint Mary Academy.

    Jon has lived in the Louisville area since 1999 with his Wife (Cassie) and son (Andrew). Jon enjoys U of L sports and travels to Cincinnati to watch the Reds (baseball) and Bengals (football) whenever possible. He also loves to spend time on the family farm: hunting, gardening, hobby farming and, exploring for fossils.


    Fun Fact: Jon has a extensive pepper garden and hop field that he works with his brother on the family farm in Scott County Kentucky.

    Mrs. Brown is the Technology Coordinator and Technology Teacher at Saint Mary Academy. She is married and has twin boys that also attend SMA. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. Prior to SMA, Mrs. Brown spent her time as an Education Consultant and Trainer. She thrived on educating and training teachers and business professionals on how to utilize and implement technology in their classrooms, boardrooms and training facilities. She is passionate about teaching our students to be excellent Digital Citizens while equipping them with the correct tools and behaviors to protect themselves and succeed in this rapidly changing, connected society. She also helps our teachers implement technology into their teaching and student learning by providing them support both in and out of the classroom. She absolutely loves Jesus, her family and the beach. Outside of SMA, Mrs. Brown enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at Love City, doing crafty projects, playing board games and just about anything outdoors especially near a body of water. Mrs. Brown would love to move to Siesta Key Beach to save the sea turtles and manatees someday!

    Ms. Keith was born and raised Louisville, and is a graduate of Eastern High School. Ms. Keith attended Morehead State University where she studied Music Education. Ms. Keith loves music in all forms, and is very excited to be part of the SMA community.

    Ms. Keith is kept busy with all of her pets- she currently owns five cats, one dog, and a snake. In her free time, she will often read a good book or go on a hike.

    Debbie Stein has been a teacher at Saint Mary Academy since 2014. She worked as a long term substitute teacher and then became a full time staff member as Physical Education teacher. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, has a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Louisville. Debbie has 4 sons.... Matthew 29, Will 28, Nate 24 and Lee 22. Her life since 1995 has been spent on the bleachers watching her sons play football, basketball, baseball, volleyball and ice hockey. Debbie’s two oldest sons played football through college and her younger two sons played several sports through high school. Needless to say, she loves sports! Since 1984 (give or take some years to raise 4 boys) she was a third grade teacher at Holy Trinity, the lead preschool teacher at Saint Leonard, and Physical Education teacher for all grades at St. Leonard and Holy Spirit. While her boys were young, she did individual tutoring and frequently did substitute teaching in Catholic grade schools, Trinity High School, and Assumption High School. Debbie is excited to call Saint Mary Academy her home, and wants to have a positive influence on her students. She challenges them to live a heart healthy lifestyle and increase their fitness levels.

    Debbie enjoys spending time with her 4 sons, traveling, fitness classes, weight training, running races, cooking and experimenting with new recipes that are both healthy and tasty.

    Fun Fact: Debbie grew up showing American Saddlebred horses throughout the United States and Paris, France.

    Bio
    Mrs. Yann has been a teacher at Saint Mary Academy since 2013. She grew up in Louisville, and attended DuPont Manual High School in the Visual Arts Magnet. Mrs. Yann also earned a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Social Science at Spalding University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching at Bellarmine University. Mrs. Yann enjoys spending time with her family, mountain biking, photography, and art.

    Fun Fact: Grace is a vegetarian.
