In addition to the weekly school Masses, our students also have an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Advent and Lent.
While the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation are celebrated in the parish of the students, the children prepare for these sacraments in school. The Second Graders prepare for First Reconciliation and for First Eucharist and our Eighth Graders prepare for Confirmation.
First Communion is celebrated in the spring, outside the Lenten season. Children in second grade are ordinarily eligible to receive First Communion. Arrangements for the initiation of other candidates are considered upon individual requests. Parent meetings are held in conjunction with the parish. The date scheduled for the 2023-24 First Communion will be Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 2pm.
Catechesis for First Reconciliation is in the fall of second-grade year. First Reconciliation will be celebrated in late fall or early winter. Parent meetings are held in conjunction with the parish. The date scheduled for the 2023-24 First Reconciliation will be Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 7pm.
Confirmation classes are held in eighth-grade. Parent and sponsor meetings are held, and at least one interview with a pastoral staff member is held. Service projects and a day of reflection are an integral part of the program. The Archbishop determines the date for Confirmation each year. The date scheduled for the 2023-24 Confirmation will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1pm.
In October, our entire school participates in the Living Rosary in our gym. Our Eighth-Graders re-enact the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, and our Fifth-Graders lead us in the Living Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. In May, our fourth graders lead us in our May Procession to honor the Blessed Mother.
